Welcome to the PTA section!

Hello, my name is Jo Sandford and I am the chairperson of the Friends of Clehonger School. I have a daughter called Jessie in class 2 and a son called Tom in class R. The other members of the committee are:

Vice Chairperson - Victoria Hopper, mum of Harry (class 3) and Benjamin (class 1)

Treasurer - Angela Hedges, mum of Jessica (class 5) and Jack (class R)

Secretary - Suzie Hughes, mum of Olivia (class 1) and Louise Padian, mum of Ruby (class 1)

The Friends of Clehonger School is our current version of the Parent Teachers Association and anybody who has a child at Clehonger automatically becomes a member. This can also include parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends. Our aim is to make the school more fun for the children by helping to finance events and equipment which falls outside the scope of the school budget. We thought this year we would have a change to having class reps and instead, will be calling on parents to try and commit some time to just one event during the year.

We will continue to host the usual events such as, the Christmas Fayre, Prize Bingo, Easter Egg Hunt, Mothers Day Fayre and of course the Carnival, but also hope to do a curry and quiz night. The list below shows some ideas for us to fund this year:

£100 for each class to subsidise their school trip

Rubber matting to replace the bark under the play area

Stage lighting for the hall

Waterproof suits for class R and 1 to play out in the rain

Christmas presents from Father Christmas

Foam balls for playtime (we have already purchased skipping ropes in September)

This comes to nearly £5000 so we need to get fundraising. If you have any ideas at all please feel free to approach me with them. It would be great to see more people at the meetings. To make them less formal we will try holding the next one in a pub.
