Pupil Premium

Introduction

The Government introduced the Pupil Premium funding in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as 'Ever 6 FSM').

Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months , as well as children of service personnel.

In most cases the Pupil Premium is paid direct to schools, who decide how to use the funding as they are best placed to assess what additional funding their pupils need.

Overview

As a school, Clehonger has decided to spend the pupil premium funds in the following ways:

1. 0.2 dedicated SENCO time - covering SEN, EAL, LAC and G&T

2. A range of intervention programmes covering curriculum areas and social skills set up and monitored by SENCO in discussion with teaching staff during termly Pupil Progress meetings.

3. Training for teaching and non-teaching staff according to need. This may be delivered by school staff or by specialists brought in for the occasion.

4. Teaching Assistant time given to individuals (sometimes funded through Local Authority SEN funds) where mentoring or support in a specific area is needed e.g. touch typing skills for dyslexic pupils.

5. Support offered to families through the CAF process. This process draws upon a multi-agency approach to supporting families.
