In Clehonger, we are determined to ensure each child in KS2 receives high quality MFL teaching. Early language learning is important as it gives children a good understanding of the structure of other languages and it gives them the opportunity to develop their cultural understanding.
We chose to teach Spanish as this supports transition into our local high schools that also teach Spanish. We follow Primary Languages Network scheme and our Y6 children have a Spanish teacher coming in once a week from a local high school to teach them.
Children in Clehonger have the opportunity to learn how to express their thoughts and ideas both in speech and in writing. They learn Spanish vocabulary linked to a wide variety of topics including animals, picnics and school. Children also enjoy using the resources including songs, videos, stories and games.
Below you can find our Spanish Long Term Plan and knowledge organisers. Children can use the knowledge organisers to practise key sounds and vocabulary for each topic.
